After Laser Eye Surgery: Post-op LASIK Appointments
As a patient of Deen-Gross Eye Centers, you can expect to receive treatment of the highest standard from the moment you enter our office to your post-operative appointments. Many patients don’t realize that once they have undergone LASIK at our practice, their experience with our eye care experts is not yet complete. Our eye surgeons guide patients throughout the entire LASIK process, beginning with their initial consultations to post-op sessions during which their progress and healing are carefully monitored. Your post-op LASIK appointments will be a vital part of your journey toward crisp, clear vision.
It all begins with a consultation, during which one of our respected eye surgeons will discuss what you can expect from the LASIK process before, during, and after the procedure. We want you to understand exactly what you should expect, and what will be expected of you, before you commit to surgery. It is very important that you are willing and able to follow all post-operative instructions provided to you to the absolute letter. This includes attending all post-op LASIK appointments to ensure that your vision is progressing as it should and that you are recovering properly.
Are you a suitable candidate for LASIK surgery? To find out, please schedule your initial consultation at Deen-Gross Eye Centers today.
What Will Your Post-op LASIK Appointments Be Like?
Your post-op LASIK appointments will serve two very important purposes. The first of these will be to check your visual acuity. Different patients will achieve optimal visual acuity at different points after undergoing surgery. Some will be able to see with exceptional clarity within hours of undergoing LASIK, while others will have to wait a while. During your first post-op appointment, our doctors will be able to establish a reasonable timeline, and that timeline will be used to monitor your progress at future post-op appointments.
The second purpose of your post-op LASIK appointments is to check the progress of your healing and confirm that you are not experiencing any complications. At Deen-Gross Eye Centers, the rate of complications among our patients is extremely low, and serious complications are very rare in general. However, if a complication does occur, it is always best to address it in its earliest stages, when it is most treatable and least likely to have long-term effects on a patient’s vision or ocular health. This is particularly true of complications involving the corneal flap and undercorrection of a visual error.
After you complete your round of post-op LASIK appointments, it is important that you continue to schedule routine eye exams. While your vision may be excellent after LASIK and your eyes perfectly healthy, you will want to preserve your improved vision for years to come by staying abreast of any possible eye conditions. The best way to do that is to undergo routine eye exams.
